A WORKS Enterprise® learning environment is a company that is primarily in the business of producing learning, where students produce essential products and services as they learn occupational skills, participate in operating a business and begin to systematically manage their work lives.
WORKS Enterprise® learning environments are as different as a culinary business housed inside a community college, a new media design studio and a car repair business .Solid business planning, response to community needs and a collaborative design process ensures that a WORKS Enterprise is well-suited to its setting.
The WORKS Enterprise® model can be adapted as a charter school, as part of a public school program and as an organizational model for the national Job Corps system. In addition, the model can be modified for self-contained residential educational environments such as group homes and designed as transitional living/learning environments for youth from institutional settings.
As an after-school program, the WORKS Enterprise® learning environment provides a powerful enrichment opportunity for students.
A collaborative design process and TDC performance support accompanies all WORKS Enterprise® models, provides assessment mechanisms and ensures the success of the enterprise.
