TDC is committed to developing designs to improve the performance of people and institutions in the economy. Part of our work involves identifying missing or under-functioning tools and processes, and designing solutions.
An example of a transformative TDC product is our Automated Case Management System. As computer technology developed in the 1980's and made its way into the case management environment, we noted a marked need for better case management tools in the field of worker support. Paper-based methodologies were cumbersome and impractical, and existing software inadequately accounted for the data needed to help workers effectively.
TDC spearheaded the development of an innovative solution, the Automated Case Management System (ACMS). The project involved the full spectrum of application development, from drawing table to installation in server banks. Today, close to two decades from its inception, the ACMS is still in use as a backbone support tool for worker case management.
In our 21st century work, TDC is continuing this tradition of identifying areas of product need, and developing solutions. Our current projects include the development of multimedia dislocated worker kits to assist unemployed workers in gaining access to the information, support and resources they need to find a job, creation of an online archive of documents and forms on the backbone of an online institutional data repository architecture, and hosting of a networked-learning environment for our staff, our clients and and our colleagues.
Our medium-range development projects are animated by two ideas: sustainable employability and global community capitalism. The product-development work includes ongoing work on web-based support structures for workers as well as the development of designs and tools that can be adopted by local communities to strengthen their local economic prospects and increase their capability of maintaining a strong local economy in the face of global shifts in industry.
